The fighting fish are native to South-East Asia and have a "labyrinth lung" that allows them to take in oxygen from air. Typically they live in puddles and rice paddies.

Yet again, we see misinterpretations in the way they say this. This fad is completely ridiculous.

This is a pretty horrible thing, but to be honest this is no worse that when you go to your LFS and see bettas all lined up in boxes of similar size or floating amongst the tops of tanks in plastic bags.

Betas should not be allowed to be sold in my opinion everyone has one and they are all neglected.

Ive got a soft spot for betta's and don't much like to them in small glass bowl's (even though they can survive) but that's just ridiculas.The moron that thought that up should be locked up in a confined space.
