Iraqi catfish part 2

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It is definitly a member of the genus Siluris. S. glanis has a very wide range and occurs also in Turkey and Iran, so possibly also in Iraq. Some very similar but smaller species of Silurus occur even at Japan. It could well be that this is actually Silurus triostegus.

i thought it was neat because its coloration was exactly the same as the digitized camoflage that the marines wear. :D

They don't want to get shot either! LOL

Nice catch!

nice catches!

Wow! What a cool cat! That camo would look awesome in my tank! :D
And a huge thanks to all of you serving our country! You're all my heros!:hearts::clap

Thank you for all of your comments. I havent caught many fish lately because the heat has been pretty high lately...by 8 am its topping 100 and the fish shut off. i went walking around the lake here by the office the other day and spotted a mangor...thing was easily 4 feet long and swimming around like it was king of the lake. it took one look at my bacon offering and swam away as if insulted. i think i might have to catch some smaller carp and use them as bait! we havent caught any more catfish lately, except the stinging cats.

There are a lot of baits you can use for Silurus, for example pieces of squids, big worms and leeches, innards and fish. A very good bait fish is eel, but also small mackerels. Carps seems to be not the top bait for them. But you can sometimes also catch them with non-natural baits, but that´s more chance.
