Iridecent shark hiding all the time

Welcome!

Try not turning the lights on and see if the IDS comes out. Catfish don't like light in general. The brighter the light, the more stressed they are.

Another reason could be that the gar bothers or bites it. Gars are indiscriminate, even stupid biters, especially of timid tank mates. Dos the IDS bear any marks?

Comfortable IDS catfish don't hide but swim around non stop, alone or with kin it doesn't matter. Something makes it apprehensive. You gotta troubleshoot on your end. It sounds like something behavioral or physical - even if it carries no damage, doesn't mean the gars are not bothering it (fire eel should be harmless in general), or there is bright light, or there is too much human traffic around the tank, or kids bang on the tank, or a pet cat or dog jumps on the tank and scares the fish, IDK... you gotta think...

and theres almost no traffic in the tank only me going to the tank or my mom doing the laundry she dies it like three times a week.

Perhaps something is off with your water parameters. If ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH are good by a liquid test, temp is good, aeration is adequate, then the water hardness (general or carbonate) or the TDS or the pH stability may be off. But usually any of these would reduce or turn off the appetite too.
