I'm not really sure if this is the place to post this, but i'll go ahead and throw it out there. I have had my shark for maybe 2 weeks, he started in my 29 gallon community tank and then i read up about him and OMG he's gonna be big, so i got him a 55 gallon. Well i don't really know what he eats. Once in a blue moon i'll see him "skimming" the surface of the tank in what i assume is him looking for food but my platys in the 29 gallon were feroucious eatters and he hardly if ever got any food. I'd see him nibbling on the snails algae tabs, but again the platys were in the way.

Now he's in a 55 gallon and he's got 11 serpae tetras and an angel fish and some feeder guppies with him and i see him getting flakes from the top more often but i'm wondering what other foods should i be adding or if there is something i need to put in like sinking foods?

Any suggestions would be amazing

i notice the "OMG he's gonna be big" bit, but why a 55g? you did research more than one site about its potential size didnt you and i hope you know these get very large, like 4ft+ large?

First plan on a much bigger tank. Then expect the guppies to start disappearing, probably followed by the tetras. They will eat almost anything. Mine goes nuts for meaty type foods.

build yourself a pond.
The guppies will breed some food for him

the one site i read said oh he won't be any bigger then 6 or 8 inches, because they are in captivity, and i thought well that sounds wrong, so i checked out some other sites and 4 ft is what i'm anticipating. 55 gallons is the biggest tank i could afford for right now, he's currently maybe 2 inches long so i was hoping i'd have a year or 2 to find a him a bigger tank. i got him the 55 g tank because he seemed to always be running into the walls on the 29 and i figured he'd like the extra swim room.
He may eat the guppies all he wants they are there for the angel mostly but if he likes them he can have them, the tetras are almost 2 inches ( he's only alittle longer then them ) and they are diamond shaped, will i still have to worry about him eatting them?

i was thinking about a pond when we finally decide which house to live in and what not, how deep should it be and does it need to be heated or will he ( not sure how to sex them so gonna assume it's a he for the badass shark persona to fit well) be okay with no heater. i mean would a 6 X 6 pond that's maybe 8 feet deep be a good pond for him or is that still much to small?

Well, in reality its a silly size. 6x6x8 is 2150 gallons. However, it would be much better to make a much larger surface area, instead of making it really deep. 12x6x4 is the same gallons, but a ton more space to swim. BTW, that would be incredibly awesome. :)

There's loads of other awesome stuff you could put in a pond that size too.

6x6 is not good size for very activily swimming catfish, they need more space. You need a heater during winter time. Yes your ID will eat your tetras, no matter what shape they are.

okay 12X6X4 is what i'll plan on doing when i finally figure out where it's gonna go and such.
How in the world would you heat 2000 gallons of water!
The 55 gallon wasn't cycled persay, i run 2 filters on my 29 gallon and stole the established filter cartridge out of my filter and put it in the 55 gallon with the tetras for the night to make sure the levels didn't spike but it's been over a week and we are still nh3 - 0 no2- 0 no3 12.5 so i think the bacterias are good.
