January or something, i got a new senegalus. She is healthy, active, overall normal, but even since before i got her, her scales and body always puzzled me.

She is young, probably a year or less old, and her scales are VERY irregular. I have other bichirs, took care of many since they were even smaller and younger than her, so the difference is absurdly clear.

The little dots they have along their body is irregular, the pattern of the scales are messed up and even the smaller, softer stomach scales are weird, like if she had been idk man punched there or something.

She eats normally, swims normally, interacts with the others, all as any other fish does, its just visually different, so it doesnt bother me that much. As long as she is healthy, im fine.

Now, i talked with some people, but none actually had any idea of what it could be. Some suggest she may have been badly hurt when younger and her body grew this way? Some other say its maybe genetic?

The fish store i get all i have from is owned by a family i grew close to, so they told me that she was actually a donation, not from their usual breeders etc etc. So her exact past is a mystery to everyone.

If anyone had a similar fish, or has any ideas of it could be, or if it is harmful at all, im curious! Thx in advance and sorry for the bad english lmao
