That sucks man... I had something similar with roommates in university. People just can't seem to understand the concept of a "small pinch" of food...

Which i why I bought an automatic feeder for long vacations.

when i go outta town i normally take a little flake and pellets and put them in shot glasses by the tank and have them use 1 shot glass every few days. I don't even let them know about the frozen food i normally feed.
