I feed flakes and colorbits, but I never see him eat, he doesn't look starved so he must get something when I am not watching. How do shrimp pllets work for them, I hear they love them.

Kevin
i never tired shrimp pellets so i cant tell. why dont you try krill.

I coudl try mysis, he s only a little over 2.5" so krill is to big at the moment..be heis growing fast so maybe in a month or so. He has already grew 2/16ths of an inch in less then a week, so he should be 3" in a couple weeks.

a 15" paroon in a 18" tank. am i reading that right. beautiful fish by the way.

18" wide that is. Sorry I should have been more clear. The tank is 6' long and of course way to small for him. Although he has grown very well in there so far. I have to build him a new monster tank asap.

As far as feeding goes, he eats nutrient dense aquaculture diet and earthworms. High quality food and high quality water optimizes the genetic growth potential of any fish. The sanitwongsei and other pangasius in the trade come mainly from fish farms where they are selectively bred so their growth rate is phenomenal as compared to wild caught fish.

Can you explin the diet in more detail? I would love to get mine of that..

Kevin
I work for an aquaculture fish food manufacturer/pet food co so I am privileged to have access to high quality foods, some of which I have formulated myself. Nutrient dense fish foods will have high levels of quality fish meal and a very digestible energy source in the form of quality fish oil. My fish have been fed diets that range between 42% and 46% protein (90%+ digestible) and fat levels between 12 and 23%. The diets are generally very low in carbohydrate. Keeping carbs low, ash low and a good balance of protein/fat with an excellent Vitamin/mineral premix will make for a great diet...as long as it is not overfed-which is what many hobbyists do-it is amazing how well fish can do on a high quality food fed sparingly. Fillers, Ash and indigestible proteins/fats just create waste and pollute our aquariums. There are nice foods out there, just have to know what basics make up a good food. Good luck with feeding your fishes!

Wow, that sounds like an interesting job, I am going to college for Ichtheology, hopefully etting a good traveling job to some good places...would love to check out Paroons and IDs in their natura environment..
