I have not found this to be the case. Test your water and do a good size water change. What conditions were they living in previously? IDs tend to have huge appetites once adjusted.

You should always do a water change when you add any new large fish or fish act "off". What is your water change schedule? You should always know your water parameters or at least have all the tests kits available to you so you know what they are. What are your upgrade plans for these fish?

Then you should look into a monster-sized tank of about 1000g or more.

the thing ive noticed about IDs and paroons is that they r EXTREMELY timid fish until they gain a lot of confidence. they r especially skittish around other fish. takes a lot of time and effort to just be patient for them to come out of their shell. but once they do gain confidence they eat like PIGS! so just try feeding them in the dark. dont make any sudden movements or sounds. GOOD LUCK!
