Irwin's extreme closeups!

I like the idea of the name being a tribute, I'm sure he would have thought it was a beautiful ray. Every time I see photos of rays on here I begin to like them more and more....great close up shots. Does he "recognize" you at all?

Oh, absolutely. I've had more interaction with these rays than with any cichlid I've ever owned, and cichlids are very owner responsive fish. Potamotrygons are quite amazing creatures! I absolutely love them!

Okay, that makes me want them even more! They sound so interesting, and even better that they respond. I'll definitely be looking into these in the future. Do you keep yours with tank mates or ray only? sorry for all the questions..I'm a newbie when it comes to these.

Tank mates are not really recommended with rays, depending on what they are. Well, I guess I go against the grain a little with mine. I have my rays sharing a 220g with two pikes, a flowerhorn, a managuense, and gold saum. I've been very fortunate so far in that my cichlids have left my rays alone. I'll be purchasing a 450-550g tank for the rays to have to themselves.
