Is 2217 good enough for 125G?

An FX5 is a great filter, have one with my sump on my 180g.

Take my advice and use 2 canisters because if 1 goes down you have the other. My sump was down for 4 days and if I didn't have the FX5 I would have been in big trouble. I kept the sump bacteria alive by circulating the water within the sump but my tank would have crashed, I'm sure without the FX5.

I am going to be the odd man out, but I would say that the 2217 would be enough for your tank.
I think many on mfk (I know it's for the best) like to over-filter their tanks.

Howdy,

I have a 2217 on my 40 gal, does the trick well. Was a bit underpowered for my 75 gal with one wolffish only. A buddy runs 2x2217 on his 75 gal tank with non-monster community fish and is happy.

A single 2217 will definitely not be enough for you.

I have a 2217 on my 125. But there's an FX5 and a rena xp3 on it as well. I would get more than one filter on it.

Where can I find a Fx5 for $210? All the ones I'd seen were $300+.

Brand new ones on ebay go for roughly $250 with shipping included. Sometimes you can find them less. Otherwise I haven't been able to find them for less than $289+shipping.
