general rule is 1 inch of fish, per 1 sq gallon of water...they should be fine
i have 8 cons in a 20 gallon... had them since they were fry...
they are now all about 1" ...no problems yet....
Looking to pick up a pair of Black Convicts. Did some research and found that the only grow to 6". So I guess I now have two questions. Is that true? & If they get to be that big is a 27gal hex too small?
lol welll as for now, thats the only place i can put them, unless they want to be fed to my friends jag...or flushed...because my lfs is not buying any back, below 2.5" and mine are only 1" so in the 20 they stay lol
YES..and good research! a 27 hex is going to be too small for a pair of cons eventually. Hex tanks arent really good for keeping any kinds of cichlids other than angels. You want more of a larger footprint for cichlids because they are territorial for the most part and hex tanks have very little territory compared to a long or regular rectangular tank.
