its 36x18x24 how long could i leave them in there??? there 3 and ahalfmonths old almost four inch's umm i got a 90 it's standerd.48x24x18 would that work or do i need more. space???:nilly:

I am going to go by your calculation of the volume, instead of double checking the volume is right for the dimensions. But if your tank is indeed 70 gallons, that should be fine for life for all three red bellies. For a general rule for red bellies use this:

30 Gallons for the first red belly, and then 20 more gallons for each additional red belly.

The 90 would be better because it gives you a bigger footprint. Piranha don't untilize the top half of the tank, so your better of having a wide and long tank . The 90 has a 4ft by 2ft footprint versus the 70 with a 3ft by 1 1/2ft footprint. On top of that you can keep 3 RBP in the 90 for life. Good Luck

when i first got my RBP they everyone on here told me 20g per fish. i was told that my 75g would be good for 4 of them for life... everyone has different opinions. mine are all about 5" and doing well...

your tank comes out to 67.42 gallons, so close enough, anyways, the 90 gal would be much better for the rbp, though they could be grown out in the 67 for awhile.

I have 3 RBPs in a tank with the dimensions you stated, they are 6.5-7.5" and have more than enough room. By the way I believe the tank in question is actually considered a 65 gallon show tank but holds about 67 1/2 gallons.

hmm cool i was told it was a 70 but wut ever will my babys ever be more agressive towards other fishies i fed them a chcilid and the are still running from it.....

considering RBPs can get to 12" in adult size I would not put 3 in less than 125 gallons. their is a type of piranha that gets to only 6" long and looks and awful lot like an RBP (can't recall the name), maybe you shoud look into that.

i personally havent seen any rbp over 11", and they were grown out in a HUGE tank, with absoulute perfect, water, and way to much feeding, makeing the fish obese, so the rbp's of his, won't get over 8-9" in his tank, and theres a few small serras, but he's talking about his reds

rbp's usually won't get over 11", if they do it's rare and it's because of great genes. But I would suggest at least a 4ft by 12" wide tank for 3-4.
