Seems my 3 bigger tanks running 83-85 degrees with no heater running due to uv/room temp

2 tanks have the aqua ultraviolet UV (didn’t think it would heat) and bigger tank is the pro maxx ultraviolet (supposed to run hott)

i’ve been cooling the tanks with cool water too keep temps at 80-81 / lots of air running as well -

wondering if folks have cooling ideas or just let them be?

any downsides / upsides?

thanks all!

good question should have put that in the post!

Adult Bass
Arow - Black / Lei
Bichir
Cats - Vulture / Suncat

Bass are Amazon fish, should be good for them.
You can try unplugging heaters for a bit and seeing how low it drops. That’s how I determined I don’t actually need a heater on my CA/SA cichlid tank. Tank was running at 84-86 with it, now 74.

they are peacock bass -

ya i turned them off - monitor temp via inkbird pro app

i’m inclined to let temp stay at 83 - and stop fussing the cold water drips...

i was not sure if i was inviting bacteria or what ever pathogens thrive in higher heat waters was my only concern...

thanks all!

higher temps make ammonia and nitrite and nitrate are allot more toxic if you didnt know. heres a chart showing ammonias affect on fish at different temps and ph .CC3E595E-DDE9-400F-9D81-34A5E394B266.jpeg

Maybe try running the uv on timers rather than all the time.

good idea, less electric too ....

it’s the room too, need to install some ventilation -had to close off from the rest of the house -cat was lurking around on top of tanks ?

Co-worker in my NYC days told me his sister's reef tank had out of control algae even with all the correct filtration and care. It was discovered that the cat was pissing in the top of the tank.
