Is a 135 big enough for a pbass ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
YES YES YES YES YES:nilly: :eek3:  :character0087: :cool-1:

YOU NEED AT THE LEAST A 225+GAL TANK FOR THIS FISH, iwill be building a 500g pond for my 5 pbass's and tsn cat, check the thread everybody says the same thing: very fast growing fish ( 1-2") a month easily, will eat anything smaller then itself and did i mention very fast growing fish.

It'd be a nice growout tank.

It will outgrow that tank.

You really need something with a width of atleast 30".

You could always grow it out in the 135 and sell it if you can't get a bigger tank by then. Not the best plan but it works ;)

I am sure a few MFKr's would love to buy it from you when it is too big :)

So what's the minimum size gal tank for 1 pbass?

doesnt work like that.

Basically, these fish need swimming room. I wouldnt go less then 600 gallons, I have had these fish in a 2000gallon, and I would consider that small, especially for their feeding behaiver.

check this video.

Some of the members here have them in smaller tanks, but you can clearly see the bumps on their chins from hitting the glass. And they dont actually get to swim a distance at a fast speed, rather just jolt, then stop, turn, and repeat.

The reality is that very very few hobbyists are going to be able to provide 2000gallon + enclosures...

I would say 96x30x24 is the minimum. A pbass could live in that...may not be the best environment...but it would be sufficient.

The reality is that very very few hobbyists should be able to keep these fish.

A Pbass can live in a 55. That my not be the best, but they will live, correct?

The problem is these fish just are not ment for anyone but the sellect few.
