Is a 2" oscar safe with a 5" pbass?

The Oscar is too small...it'll end up as a feeder to a Pbass.

I'm guessing that a 2" oscar would be fish food for a 5" peacock bass. Is it worth the risk?
Hi I am Julia,
Live in the Isle of Man, (famous for Tourist Trophy Motor Bike races), and I have two 10" Oscars and two smaller, the 10" are Tiger Oscars who have paired up, beautiful to see.

All I can say to your question is " I am glad I am not the 2" Oscar??:):nilly::headbang2:screwy: Cheers for now Julia

put yourself in the poor little oscars fins.

would you be safe swimming around with a pred that was more than 2x your size and usually hungry??

Yeah, that's what I thought as well but it doesn't hurt to ask others who know more. I have never kept oscars before and am new to pbass as well. About what size of oscar would you guys and gals recommend if the pbass is around 6"? I would guess the oscar would have to be more than 1" thick (vertically) to stay out of the oscars menu. Is that about right? I have a spare 50g to use as grow out tank for the oscars for a while (if and when I get them).

It could work if the oscar is 2'' and pbass 2'' but if the pbass is 5'' then no.

So they need to be about the same length. Since pbass grow so fast, the oscars would need to be nearly full size to have much of a chance by the sound of it. I guess I'll have to rethink about stocking the 270 with oscars and pbass. Thanks to everyone for the advice.
