iv got a zig zag eel, it's about 3" right now. iv heard they only get to about 8" max. (and yes it is a zig zag not a tire track... it's macrognathus circumcintus and not mastacembelus armatus). should the 30" of swimming room a 20L provides be enough for an adult? i dont plan on upgrading anytime soon thats why im asking.

I think so they rnt rlly active usually

haha, 75. no, you'll be fine

ok maybe not 75g but 55g. 20g, are you serious? Gulper catfish aren't active but they get huge. An they need a large tank

No with the right dimmensions i can put a gulper in my 30gal. And a peacock eel can live in a 20 Long too if u like it better then the zig zag

at most they will reach 20" in IDEAL conditions, meaning a big tank...but yes they can sustain a HAPPY life in a 20 gallon long

i think im gona go with the 20 long. if it grows out and i find it needs more room... then ill cross that bridge if it exists. it seems that few people have kept these full into adulthood much less their entire life, so much so that no one really knows even how long they should live in captivity. so i propose to make the best of things and try for a 20L anyway, because the majority seems to think it will be fine and im more than happy to go with that for right now and give it a try. thank you all, i got more responses than iv been expecting, and i appreciate the help and encouragement. maybe in a few years i can get back on here and give yall an update on things and let yall know what iv found out from experience about keeping these somewhat rare critters. thanks again :)
