I am thinking about getting a Jardini. Is a 240gal (72"x30"x30") too small irrespective of tankmates?

Also, do Jardinis need a bigger footprint than silveraros? Read that, even tho they r shorter, they are not as flexible as SAs. Would a SA be better for my tank?

depends... as far as aggression is concerned i doubt it IMO. space wise yes. I had my 4 incher in a 70 gallon (48x18x19). and he ran that tank. lol. What tank mates are u thinking?

That is more than enough for a jar (and no, they actually require less space than SA's), but I'ld prefer a silver or black to a jar.

Edit: I just looked @ your tanks setup, and unless you plan on moving the other fish out of the 240, then a jar would be a very risky choice, you'd be much better off with a silver or black aro. btw, it's cool to see another KY MFK'er, there aren't many of us around here for some reason.

No that footprint provides more than enough room for a silver (and I believe blacks get to the same size, they just take longer to get there). Though a few people here believe that they need a tank width that is equivalent to the fish's length, imo they really don't need that much width. I have a 2' silver in a 2' wide tank, and it uses less than 1/2 of the tank's width to turn around, so I doubt it will have any problems as it grows. I would be more worried about an african outgrowing it, because they can get to about 36" and aren't nearly as flexible as a silver.

My ideal setup would be to have an Aro (Jardini?), ClownKnife, Dat microlepis, 7x RedhookSDs, 2x ClownLoaches & RoyalPanaque. The Aro is probably the one that is on the cusp because I already have everything else except the CK and it will arrive next week. I found a good deal on a Jardini and have always loved Aros, so I am wondering if it's just too much. I try to be a responsible MFKer.

My Afro seems to be fine tuned at turning not as much as a silver but definately more than a Jar or Asian So I'd say it'd be fine.....

Again mate don't really recommend the Jar it could end badly....
