right now I have 2 fx5's filtering my 400 gallon tank, ill be downsizing to a 125 that's drilled for a sump my thoughts are to plumb 1 of the fx5 into the plumbing and just use that for the filtration? But im not sure if that would be enough or not..

If 2 of the cannister are keeping a 400 clean then wouldn't 1 be plenty for a 125?

I like lots of filtration. Run them both.

I run 1 on my 125, but I have a korillia EVO circulator on opposite end to blow the junk into the fx5 intake, IME fx5 alone won't do the trick

It'll handle the bioload just fine(assuming sensible stocking) you may find it lacking in mechanical filtration though. I ran a FX5 on my 120g tank with no issues, though I did have a power head for added circ.

either way...you should be ok....but running both removes ALL doubt:popcorn:

If you got em', use em' :headbang2

I run one fx5 on my 110g, but it is lightly stocked--5 red sevrums and a small turtle. It is hard plumbed and a the return has a flow accelerator on it. They are great.
