There's a lot of overhead for an LFS to stock a foot-long fish that needs to be kept alone in a large tank...

$300 USD is really really expensive for Jardini, in Asia its so much cheaper like $15 USD - $20 USD for a 6- 8 inch Jardini.
The prices of Asian Arowanas, gold in particular cost like even less the $100 USD...
I wonder how much money these fish shops can make in other countries by artificially inflating / marking up the prices of these fishes to unaffordable levels for hobbyists.

My LFS has a really nice Jardini that they want 300.00 for. The fish is about 12-14" and beautiful but 300.00? I know it's hard to put a price tag on it without a picture but on the average how much does a nice looking healthy Jardini go for? I live in Oregon if that matters. Thanks in advance.
