Is anyone else a little annoyed with Eheim?

 • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
it is kind of odd that they want such a bright color, but there are ways around it as people have mentioned. I personally would just get new hoses and intakes altogether

I own tons of Eheims pump and they work awesome but the only thing I didn't care for was the prime button mine always didn't work but I could go about half a year and not clean the pump it was awesome. Now I do own 2 FX5'S and they work sweet, Eheim may be little $$ but the FX5 do wonders in my mine. Over all I like them both and will use both untill something new comes out!

Fish can't see in color so they don't care that it's green.

Eheim makes the tubes green so they'll easily be obscured by plants.

If the green gear really bothers you tubing can be changed.

So I guess my answer would be no. I don't feel your pain. I buy eheim for the quality rather than the aestetics as I can change the aestetics if the pump works. If the pump fails prematurely, who cares what it looks like?

As a product designer I spend most of my days developing products which strive to achieve a strong aesthetic and functionality while maintaining a high level of quality. So in answer to your question... I care! And a few other people it seems. But you know, we are all entitled to our own opinions and if you like it than it works out well for you!

I guess I just wanted to stimulate some conversation about it as I have been setting up a 150g and I went to a lot of effort to make it look natural, but then I added my Eheim and it stuck out like a sore thumb.

I just thought that most people are keeping fish because:

1) They enjoy the challenge of looking after them
2) They like to look at them (which inherently means they are looking at the backdrop as well)

You said you’d buy the product for its functionality and quality but don’t you think it would be nice to have a product which has everything? Aesthetics, functionality and quality? I mean, you pay big bucks for the Eheims, and the unit themselves are usually design masterpieces but I just wish they had nicer stock outlets. I guess Eheim and most other filter companies allow for modification and accessorizing so it’s not all that bad.

I was just wondering if anyone actually liked the green on the hoses and outlets, as I know many people have many different tastes! But i just can’t stand the green...

Nether the less I will probably stop my *****ing and go and change the inlet and outlets at some point to suit my aquarium environment.

Regards

Dan

The 2028 I have came with the grey inlet and output kits.

Green is the "traditional" Eheim brand color. Maybe it's a "German thing". ;)

Fish, as a necessity, see in color. It guides their mate selection.

Actually this is wrong. Mate selection is done by UV, not regular spectrum color.

In regards to their color vision, it appears I am incorrect. Some(most) species can actually see in color.

You know, it's funny that you say that... My girlfriend is germany and her favourite colour is green..

I really have to disagree with that statement

take my ocean nutrition flake food that I use there are five different colors of flakes to mark what flake it is and the fish avoid the green and go for the red , purple or yellow

I have often wondered how people can say this animal or that animal dont see in color how would you know have you look through their eyes thought their thoughts.
