So, JK, you think the Double Bright would look good on my 21" deep 4x2? If so, I think I'll probably order one this week...

Since its going to be an eartheater tank, and not planted, and I'm going for the same look you are...

I can't take pics without flash on my P&S so I have to wait for the wifes to charge. I will get pics up later tonight of how the look. Dimly lit tanks are best for eartheater since they are more confident. They hide from over the top light IME. It's personal taste but I think they would look awesome on your tank. The only complaint I have is a 36" light hanging over 48" tank. The legs slide out so it fits fine but I would really have prefered to just have 48" light on elevated legs.

I agree, I wish the light was 48". Does it light completely to the sides of the tank, or are the left in pretty deep shadows? I'm sure I'll see all once you post pics, but I'm an impatient bugger.

Hey OP, sorry to hijack your thread, but this discussion has been going on through several different threads on LED lighting the last couple weeks.

About 10" on each side is less lit, not shaded just not as bright as the center area. The T5HO on my 300 gallon has a very well lit center and very shaded corners, but that was the look I was going for.

I was concerned about the actual LED's being spaced apart and having that odd "towers" of light but it's actually really well spread out, I like it. You would not know there if it were single bulb or not just by looking at the lighting in the tank.

i'm currently building a 6x20w halogen lighting rig as a tester for a new tank
I did that last summer with 4x20w. You get the metal halide/LED shimmer but the heat melted the brace and cracked the glass lid. They were sitting about 1" above. Also the light is very yellow like HPS.

I bought the LED floods and love them! The white are 600-700 lumens 6-7k and the warm white are less lumens and way too yellow (3k, HPS).
