is aquarium sand good for bichirs?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I fear that he may bite into a big fish and chokes to death. I would love a tank with more movement. But so far i found no fish i could house with him. I fear he eats them or he chokes to death. Ornates seem to be very very predatory. My endlicheri or senegals never showed such bheavior.

I have my moke and hybrid on pfs and haven't really noticed any color change.

I rarely see mine to. If you keep bichirs right, you won't see them much, period. If you keep them in an empty tank, you will, but how will the fish like it? That's something every bichir keeper needs to consider IMO.

Hate to say this but in my opinion your wrong. haha

This is because if you give them the right environment even with hiding spots, they should be comfortable to cruise the aquarium. What I mean is that if you have a tank with the right conditions why would the Polypterus be hiding? They would be comfortable to just go around. But this is very difficult, specially with bichirs.

well my monster ornate never moves during the day. He comes out at night. And he kills all other fish. So far only other bichirs stay alive. He ate 2 senegals though, over 20 rainbow fish, 4 plecos...
