Is drop eye a problem?

yeah, drop eye jus happens. i doubt it makes them any un-happier then they already are. if anything it helps them see food under them so it helps. not pretty but it happens and there's almost no way of preventing it. ping pong balls will not help, they'll get used to it like decoration in the tank. they'll stop lookin towards it in jus a matter of time.

not really if you arent really particular with how your fish looks or has no plan in joining fish competitions. its not really a health issue that could threaten the life of your fish

Its a genetics problem right?...due to in-breeding. I have heard of people curing it by floating ping pong balls in the tank as well as using blinking bicycle lights at the top of the tank. i doubt it affects the arowana tho.

instead of using ping pong balls, try putting the Sunday comics on top the tank, this way you can change weekly and it keeps your aro looking up. Mine really likes the "Peanuts with Snoopy" and Garfield.
