hey guys i was watching the cove and it got me thinking, is keeping fish in a tank immoral?? i was thinking of just keeping hybrids that arnt in the wild? any opinions??? no im not some weirdo animal activist, i just love animals and also a good steak.

If you ask me, it's immoral only if you are not giving your fish the sufficient care it needs albeit stuffing it in tanks too small for it to grow and swim around well, lack of nutritious foods, no proper filtration, etc.

i think that if at all possible we should keep tank raised fish as i think keeping wild fish is not the greatest; not that i don't like seeing the beautiful colors and variations of a wild fish.

I think of it this way, a fish in the wild has two worries, finding food and not becoming food, when in a tank these worries (if taken care of properly) cease to exist. Thats my 2 cents.

IMO, I think hybrids are immoral... other then that we are attempting to increase a fishes life

has anyone seen the cove?? if not, the dolphin trainer said that dolphin undergo high stress in captivity and why dont fish breed in tanks??

yes its immoral. we are all going to hello

hello

I haven't seen The Cove but I've read a book by Richard O'Barry. He's a pretty intense activist and I agree with most of his opinions, only problem is that I think if some marine mammals weren't held in captivity to serve as ambassadors of their species perhaps people wouldn't have the same affinity for them and desire to back legislation and other means to protect them.
However, I don't think that fish are capable of the same level of mental process and thus sustained stress and anguish from captivity that a cetacean might endure. I don't know what you mean about fish breeding in tanks. Most can be fenangled into doing so.

Which fish don't breed? We have hundreds of fish that are able to breed in tanks.;)
