my snapper has a few sores and things on his underside, similar to another post id seen

worn out skin??? or just sores, bruises???

he seems completely healthy, and his water is mildly warm from the lights, so he seems ok, and he actively snaps, he doesnt seem sick at all

hes in a bare bottom tank, probably not the best idea huh??
is that hard on his skin??? it couldnt be any worse than walking on rocks or pebbles, but im gonna get some asap

to the top for help

Are the sore areas on it's skin or shell? How big is the tank, what kind of filtration do you use and how often do you do water changes?

HHHHHHuuuuuuuummmmm.....Im thinking shell rot:confused: Post some pics if you can

Yes, some pix would be good

I've been keeping an aquatic turtle for 18 years. Anything on the shell like that is unlikely to be just "wear and tear" or a minor abrasion. Shells are tough- that's why they have them- and aren't easily subjected to anything superficial/inconsequential.

If the sores are pinkish and show signs of pitting treat with iodine. Remove your turtle from the water, pat the shell dry and apply a few drops of iodine with a dropper to each sore. Then keep him out of the water for about a half hour. When the redness/pinkishness is gone discontinue treatment. If your turtle is fully grown then any pitting will remain as scars.
