I dipped him in a 10ltr bucket with 5 tablespoons of salt for 3 minutes, and the others (who aren't showing any signs or symptoms YET) in a 10ltr bath each, dosed with 2½ teaspoons for 30 mins, just in case..
I just so happen to have metronidazole that I'd gotten for a cichlid suffering H.I.T.H a couple of months ago on hand, would that by any chance help him IF he has an internal infection? And more to the point, would it still be any good? The expiry date says 12/2017 but I assume that's for an unopened bottle. I'm not just going to throw it in his tank, but I'm wondering if it may help to put it in some food if he turns out to have an internal parasite?
Hello; I understand it is tempting to be proactive when taking care of pets. While I am not trying to talk you out of doing a treatment, I do suggest that the potential side effects of treatments be taken into account. It can be a dilemma in that sometimes early treatment does best verses the effects of a treatment. Once you see a disease or parasite run its course, then it is much easier to recognize. It can be difficult the first time you have a particular issue.
Good luck with whatever you do.
