I recently moved my KML Female from JP and my male Festae (with a divider of course) I can't decide if my festae wants to court her or kill her. He's always showing off for her (puffing gills, bending his body while he shows his side) His fins have gotten MUCH more redder, he's displaying spots along his lateral line (no markings before and he gets stripes when stressed) He's dug a pit right next to the divider. Interesting, would be an interesting mix, you think it could actually happen?

I see that her tube is starting to drop. I say take the divider out and see what happens as a test run!

I dont know, but if he dug a nest by the divider, this can also just be mistaken for him trying to get under the divider and get on her side. I dont know, but I think hes trying to court her.

I think so too but I don't want to take a chance with him doing ANY damage to her. I just put a flat rock next to the divider, if she lays on it I'll just move it to his side, let him do his thing then put them back with her. She's starting to show off too!

This method usually don't work. They both have to be doing their courting process for the male to do their thing usually. Otherwise, as soon as you put the eggs in his side, 1. he will eat them.....yum! caviar! 2. or don't know what to do with them:confused:

Yea, I do agree with you though...... She's still new to her environment and indeed too precious for him!

I'll give it some time, maybe over the weekend I'll let the to get to know one another under my watchful eye, if everything is good I'll let them stay together and see what happens.

He's a mean little bastard though, almost killed a pleco that was in with him once.
