Is it best for these to be pairs?

Do the angelfish have to be the same like marble and marble or can i have two different types of angels??

They don't HAVE to be, but angelfish seem to get along better when they look similar.

A firemouth pair would be fine in your 55gallon....

I suggest getting a breeding pair of blue acaras, they're 10x times more colorful when they're a mated pair... my female didn't lose her breeding dress until the male died, she's still beautiful but not nearly as striking.
