By the way, depending on when you guys saying "back in the day", things are different now. More beer bottles in the river, different resistant bacteria, different pesticide, and most awfully, more sewage being pumped in there when sewage system is at full capacity. Www.lfpress.com, look up about a month old article about pumping a copious amount of kaka in there river because the sewer system couldn't keep up. Now imagine repeated exposure, and all the new age maladies that are popping up more frequently: chronic fatigue, bowel disorders, chronic headaches, etc. I saw a great program about parasites lately, can't remember what it was called, but scared the crap out of me the stuff I had no idea about. All I'm saying is know your water if you plan to be there a lot, things are different, don't swallow any LOL.

But again, I think you'll be fine, what I wanted to add is watch out for lures, both for your feet and your tackle box! Seriously I've found some sweet good condition lures, worst case replace the treble hooks.

I don't wade where I can't see the bottom , but that's more of a fear of broken glass, old license plates, lost fishing lures/hooks, etc. Around where I'm at, water quality is pretty decent for the most part.
