Is It Fading

I honestly think this fish has amphilophus lyonsi in it's blood. Especially after looking at the colors before it faded. It's definitely not completely Lyonsi, but the yellows and the super red fins look exactly like it and the way it changed in pattern resembles that of a Lyonsi.
Update. Laptop broke down so I'm using a phone and the quality... well I'm not gonna say a thing about it lol. I wish you all can see him in full detail. He has a crazy web pattern of yellow and one perfect white dot on every scale.

He's frickin awesome! Love them faders. I always keep an eye out for them in my lfs but they are few and far between. You got really lucky with that guy.

Very interesting fading..... proves that fading isn't very predictable and does not happen at the same size for every fish..... in your case it started quite late. But it's turning out to be such a good looking specimen!
Here's one of the offsprings of my fader couple which somewhat looks like yours before fading.... Hope it gets transformed like yours did.
