Is it healthy to feed every other day ???

One thing most people dont think about when feeding fis is that they are cold blooded. They digest food slower then other animals like humans, dogs, cats. They are more like snakes in that manner. Just cause they do eat doesnt mean they need to eat or even that its healthy. I only feed every other day and my fish are happy and healthy. Just think of a dog that you feed a whole bowl of food, then when he finishes you sit down to eat a steak...... most dogs would still look at you like they havent eaten in days and devour the steak the first chance they got.

Yeap you are right :-). As far as the fishes I have 4 inch Fahaka 10 inch arowana and 5 inch pbass who is always hungry.

There is nothing wrong feeding 3-4 times a week. Keep in mind that fish do days on end without eating in the wild. Just that when you do feed you make sure that they are full.

The fahaka should be getting fed once every 2-3 days. They don't have the same structure as other fish, so over feeding is very common, and can cause health issues.

Mine gets fed 3 times a week and I always alternate their food.

Ya, fry is one thing, and some species like sea horses i would agree with, but most fish do not need that much food. the average stomach on a fish is roughly the size of their eye

A fish's stomach is the size of its eye?

This may be true with some species, but from my experience as a fisherman (I don't often dissect my pets) I would have to say that most fish have a stomach several times the size of their eye. Some predatory fish (especially catfish, as Muffy mentioned) can eat prey that are ten or twenty times the size of their eyes.

I am from the every other day or less school of fish feeding.

Relative newbie, but IMO, I have never experienced a fish dieing from starvation, while every fish keeper including myself has dealt with deaths from "some factor" involved in fish eating!

I guess I don't want to take necessary chances until I am more skilled. What is the deal with tetras? I have had a pair of cardinal tetras for over a year in a 10G on an every other day feeding schedule. One of the two is larger than any other cardinal tetra that I have ever seen.

Some fish can be fed and be ok for few days in between, there are others that gotta be feeding every day or even 2-4x a day for quality of life. Just depends on species and what kind of diet they're on as well.
