Is it Ich?

Dissolve the salt in hot hot water and slowly pour it in...this will be killing two birds with one stone...disolve in about 4 cups or a couple liters of water...this will bump the temp a degree or so and then just turn the heater up. ime, fish tolerate big warm ups way way better than a big chill....GOOD LUCK and top job with the pics...

add 4 table spoons of aquarium salt for every 5 gallons of water. Do this slowly over at least a 24 hour period

Sorry, should have read this more carefully

Do I continue doing water changes every week, or should I do it more / less frequently during the treatment period? How long should I treat for? Does anyone know whether the salt and increased temperature will affect the GG or the Bichir?

You will want to do a 10% change every day until it clears...Look at the stickies at the top of this forum....Replace the 10% of salt as well....

So, all of it at once?

I have had good success adding the hot dissolved liquid fairly rapidly...I would do half now and half in a few mins...

Just another quick question - when the fish are cured of Ich, do I lower the temperature of the tank back to 78.8 farenheit?

Ich does not thrive at high temps...The decision is yours. I leave all my tanks at 82....

Just added dissolved salt and bumped up the temperature to 28 degrees celsius. Hope they all recover

If you have lights for the tank I found if you keep them off it helps, so try that as well.

I tend not to put the lights on much anyway, so they'll definitely be kept turned off.
