is it just me or do others feel this way too

i've got my 180 exactly as i want with stock set-up and filtration and its been this way for quite some time now. i can definitely afford a bigger tank but dont want it because of living on 2nd floor co-op apt. and extra care and maintenance. Anyways i'm thinking about taking a vacation from M.F.K. just because I'm happy with my set-up but more unhappy with all the bickering, b*tching, flaming and show-offs with the "my fish and set-up are better than yours" attitudes. i just wanna enjoy the hobby at home with family and friends and a few selected members here that i've connected with. have others left this site for awhile for the same reasons??

Well you are free to do as you like of course. If you are happy with your setup, and dont need any help or want to look at others peoples fish, then i guess you can "take a break".

I don't know about others but I still really enjoy this site and any "cockyness",for lack of a better word,would not be enough for me to feel the need to have to take a break from it.I actually find some of it amusing..We have our hobby and being on this site is a small part of that.

I agree with krichardson, I don't think that this site should have such an impact on your life that you should feel the need to leave it because some people and their actions bother you... at least not for reasons of being big headed about their set up or any other fish related reasons...

If you left because of some type of harrassment or something in relation to that, that's way more understandable...

So to answer your question, no, I would not leave because of a reason you stated above...

monsterfishkeepers isn't perfect but some of us really like it here. they provide us with a place to talk about not only fish but other topics as well with people who have our same interests.

Yes, this is exactly why I sold most of my tanks and fish.

Seriously if you are affected in such a way because of this site, then it's probably because your fishkeeping is subpar.

I dont think i've made a fish keeping thread in a while.

My fish had a 100% success rate with there spawning, but i don't think i even made a thread that they were prego.

Well I must say the name calling or what ever doesn't affect me one bit, I could careless what some person say on the internet about me. I enjoy seeing peoples setup and some of them are nicer then mine. I enjoy having someone to tell my stories to even if they only pretend to listen/care .

I also like to give back since I got so much help. I was a very small nerdy shy black child in a town of 2000 with 1998 whites. So needless to say I learned that sticks and stones something something words. On mfk I don't even have to continue reading some silly persons rant.

Just my 2 cents. Enjoy your hobby however you get the most out of it, because in the end thats what its about. Its not about obsessing over lights, food, filtration, or health; its about you enjoying your pets.
