I said because I've been around long enough to know better and I have made contact with asians who speak the language it came from. They pronounce it coke with emphasis on the last syllable. I think it's stupid to say KOK. Why mix asian language in with english? Just call it a nuchal hump because that's what it's called in english. I will call the fish asian strains but to describe them in a different language is just retarded IMO. Unless you speak the language or have a thing for KOK you might as well call it a nuchal hump.

+1...Every asian speaking FH hobbyist pronounce it the same way too when I talk to them about FH. ;)

There are different pronunciations due to the many dialects in Chinese. I know KOK is the Cantonese version. If kok is originate from Chinese, and they call it kok, then don't change it to coke, as when you say 'mom', but cantonese say 'ma', what if they call your mom 'monk'. The world's majority FH keepers is still Chinese, if youhave the gut to tell these people that they retarded because they call their own babies' name, hey, you are just asking a name for yourself way worse than retarded. If you don't like to mix asian language (or fish) into English, then I suggest you take a walk with your American native fish to no where land.

hey now..... i sense some hostility
cant we all just get along ; )
but really we dont need a heated debate about koks im sure there is another forum for that

Darn, not that serious but honestly, think of any words that have OK in them? Smoke, awoke, broke, choke etc etc. Oklahoma. They're not the same sound as ck. When you look at it that way, it's easy to see that "coke" would make sense.

Let's get back to admiring our koks = )

its not really that i think of it in a crude way its just a strange word
