Is it Normal for ARO's to jump this Much???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
mate... i would reduce the water level down to half or 3/4 full, if you cant almond leaves use blackwater extract. i had this problem with my first green arowana when he was smaller, i found lower the water and blackwater helped a little, i did get some tank mates with him, a tsn and a datnoid, you do not want fast moving tank mates like bala sharks as it can spook your aro. plecos are a good choice also, with age your aro will calm down
my old green finally calmed down once it was about 12-13"
you may also want to try some floating plants to provide some shade and cover, it may provide a calming effect for your fish

I'd add some plants in there for the fish to hide. Just buy some tall fake plants. Also if you add some tank mates dont get them to small, also provide a small cave or something. CLown loaches need caves and stuff, they wont like a bare tank like that and will probably die. Also if your aro decides to try and catch them they wont stand much of a chance.

yah we later found out my RTG jumped due to water conditions. I cleaned the filters improperly and it affected the water spiking on ammonia and nitrites so i believe thats why my RTG jumped a couple of times.

I changed the way I clean the filters now and my RTG doesn't jump anymore and is very stable. =)
