Is it ok to cut off a bichir tail to fix a split tail? Would it be safe for the fish?

get to far down no tail will grow back

I had one that had his tail bittenhalf off and it grew back fine. So I don't see why not

My bichir had 2/5 of its tail bitten off it it grew back. Split tails always healed for mine.

It will grow back but color/pattern might not develop correctly
