is it okay to keep oscars with Jar?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Jar would probably kill the O, but I'm no expert on arowana.

It can work, just make sure the aro is twice the size of the oscar just to make sure the aro doesn't get hurt.

my jars have been piced on by my oscars that i had mixed at one time...not all that good of a combo...besides that your new jar is still to small for any "real" tankmates...

I was thinking of a small oscar to tank it with my 6 inch jar so they can grow up together. I am trying to see if the varocious eating oscar habits can influence the jar to eat more too. but yeah. well see how it goes.

I tryed to comm my Jar with an Oscar when I first stated my tank and that didn't last very long. Funny thing was that my Jar was 2/3 bigger but was being bullied by the Oscar. I would advise you not to do this comm.

the problem is the oscar could out grow the jar faster then you think...i had an oscar do that to a silver aro i had...that aro also grew to 24"+ in 10 months witch is fast so i again say it is not worth it...i will try to find my pic of the aro and oscar...i got the oscar at 1/4 the size of the aro... now with the same aro but at 24"+ i had 2x 6" oscars in with no problems...wait to try it...

well i found it faster then i thought...the oscar was givin away just after this pic was taken...
