Thks bros & sis, ur comments have been very assuring to me, afterall it's my first fw stingray. Juz wanna make sure it's comfy & healthy :)

Nice Motoro and that's normal behavior mine used to love the powerheads played in them all day! Makes me miss mine, just hate the whole worrying about shed stingers every time I cleaned my tank. I had white sand so it used to stress me stirring it up for maintenance. This video totally makes me really miss mine though, maybe now that I've got black sand stinger searching will be easier. You may have made me back into a stingray keeper!:D

Completely Normal.

However if you want abnormal, I saw mine swimming backwards against the current yesterday. Wish I had a camera setup. it was one of those "wtf moments". :D

yeah normal... mine very playful.. loves power heads that have air injection... i have the air flow for the pwr heads on remote control.. when i turn it on she is all over the power heads.. i know she isnt starving for air due to a "rain fall " filter set up and air stone in sump, and overflow filter intake...she just loves to play in the bubbles....a happy ray is a active and hungry ray..i am thinking of starting a general stingray behavior and observations thread..

I went with black sand and it does make it easier to see anyting that needs to be cleaned up. But again, it does make it easier to see, which means every little thing you will see. And if you are like me, I hate any mess in the tanks.. My rays are use to me at least three times a day cleaning out some of whatever is left after dinner or poop or whatever...
But I still love the look of sand, esp black and wouldnt use anything else...
