Is it possible to keep a betta in a 55 gallon tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
see I thought about getting a male or female and keeping it in a 5gal for my mother. Atleast she will have something. she is going through a tough time right now and trying to get rid of the rabbits we have. They are to much of an upkeep for her because of her back. Atleast I believe with a betta, she will be fine.
I've seen them in tanks with lots of different fish and they have done fine, so I don't see why you couldn't.

Is it possible to establish a self-sustaining betta population in a 1000 gallon tank like in nature? Like keeping 500 bettas and they reproduce and age and die off and the other generation also gives birth and dies and the cycle continues and also there is natural selection and the strongest ones survive, etc. Would it be possible to do so? How many bettas will a 1000 gallon tank support.

I've got 2 female betta sororities in a 20 gallon long and 10 gallon respectively. My males are in 5.5 gallon tanks. All seem happy. Although once the males are gone (hoping no time soon) I'll just have females because they seem to have much more personality and are more active.
