i have a lima shovelnose 4 inches and had a fat 2 inch jack dempsey . i woke up left for an hur and found the jack dempsey missingg.. wat are the odds the catfish ate him, him stomach is fat, but he ate a chunk of shrimp before i noticed JD was gone. theres like 2.5 maybe 3 inches from surface level to the top o' the tank

Anything is possible, but the lima would probably be unmistakably fat lol. I would start searching behind the tank, all over the floor, etc...Don't underestimate a cichlids ability to jump and flop across the house. Do you have any cats or dogs?:D

if its not in the tank or on the floor it was eaten

i checked everywhere, it aint on the floor, i find it hard to beelive it was eaten cuz it would be much fatter, i have no idea

NEVER...EVER... underestimate the eating capacity of a catfish no mater what the size.

Yeah I have to agree limas (and catfish in general) will never cease to amaze with what they can fit in thier mouths...sorry...:)
