is it possible..?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
what kind of decor do you have have you checked really we'll jackdempsys can hide pretty we'll but it wouldn't be hard for a lima to eat one that small if the fish was as wide or less wide then the head of the catfish it was a midnight snack for sure

my pangasius sanitwonsei was only 4 inches and ate 11 1 inch minnows and showed no signs of a belly... if I did not see it myself I would never have thought it to be true. It takes alot to have a belly on a catfish and they digest really fast!!

4" Lima + 2" Cichlid = Fat 4" Lima. Hmmmm.

Its probably under a couch or feceal matter by now. It sucks how these 'freak' accidents always happen when we arent home.

if you are amazed at what he can eat at 4" wait til he's 15" like mine. I feed mine 5 whole jumbo shrimp per night or my poor little other lima wouldn't get anything. It's a year old by the way.

It's rare to see in aquariums but they can get over 20". I think it takes time. A year to 15" for mine, but he hit the 12" mark months ago. He's growing really slow compared to before the 12" mark. I can imagine him over 20" in a few years though.

yea the reason i got him was cuz 2 of my 3 favorite fish(that i dont own/cant own) are the RTC and TSN, and i from what i read about the lima is the next best thing....and so far im happy with my decision, cant wait to put him in my 180, then to my "plywood"tank so he can get 20 inches!

I think it's luck of the draw and if you are putting them in tanks that size you should get a few more. They are like underwater pack predators. It's very cool to see them interact. Plus you never know if you are getting one that will stay under 12" for a long time or you are getting a champ like one of the two I have. One is about 14 months old and just hitting 12" the other is just barely a year old and a monster as stated before lol. Difference could be that one is a female and one is a male. The were doing some wierd almost mating like behaviour a while back and the big one plumped up for a few weeks. They seem back to normal now though.

yea, i kinda want more of a community tank, but im considering 1 more,i know my lfs store has a 8 incher, so i might pick him up, what do u mean pack predarors i hear that and think piranha?
