is it possible for my 26" gator gar to take floating sticks?

his previous diet was feeders and worms i havent feed him for a week now and every now and then i try to drop some sticks but he wont take it,

opinions and suggestions are greatly appreciated,

thanks

yes it is possible but very hard.

it's possible, but i would go with some larger food items for a fish that big...he may be more apt to pay attention to a larger food item too. try chopped pieces of raw fish or shrimp...gators are basically garbage disposals. good luck and keep trying--

here is a method that i have heard of but havent tried. (i feed my gars feeders that i quarentine) throw feeders in one at a time then throw whatever prepared food you choose and he might take it before he realizes its not alive. do this a few times and he should start taking the prepared food without feeders. hope this helps and good luck.

just throw the pellets in he should eat it before you know. if he doesnt then scoop it out and try again tomorrow.

the reason why im trying to do this is so that my aunt will be able to feed it while im not around. so im looking for something that i could stock, you get what im trying to say? so is there a pellet or stick that is big enough for the gar to pay attention?

you can stock up on frozen fish or shrimp quite easily...just needs to be thawed; i guess it depends on how much work you think you can get your aunt to do for the fish :) the frozen food is actually much cheaper than pellets.

as for pellets; hikari massivore delight is a big pellet that would work (my croc gar and t-gar love them) but they are pretty expensive and will definitely stink up the water if they aren't eaten within an hour or so--
