How long will you be gone? Gar can go quite a long time without needing to be fed. In fact...unless she is going to be doing water changes, it may be best to not feed the fish while you are away. Just a thought.

...as long as there are no other tankmates this wouldn't be a bad course of action (for a week or so). if the gator isn't fed and it has tankmates, they will likely get beaten up or worse during the non-feeding period; just something to consider--

my problem is im always out of town

i cant do your suggestion cause it has tank mates, like solomon said he would try to beat them if he gets hungry(right now hes tank mates are in a different tank but its only good enough for maybe a month and a half)

ok i think i came out unclear on that, i said 1 month and a half because hes tank mates are RTC, RTCxTSN and TSN they will out grow the tank their in right now. so i have 1 month and a half before i put his tank mates back
