Hi,

One of my platies is really huge. Is it way more big than my other platies. It does not come off well in the pic. I'm wondering if you think is it pregnant or just because she's fully grow.

Also how do you sex danios ? I'm putting a pic of my platy that i tink is pregnant and my danios. I have a rainbow shark in that tank with them now. They should not be a issue right ? I just love freshwater shark. They're the reason i've got into the hobby

Yes it looks like a female but can't really tell if she is gravid or was from the pic. I could be wrong but female Danio's have a stocky build than males.. As for Labeo species aka freshwater shark I know Redtail Sharks can be a pain in the bottom chasing and territorial.

Thanks to you both. I don't see a gravid spot on mine. However is it a sunburst wag platy. The end of the tail is deep red. Could it hide the gravid spot ?

I'll monitor the rainbow shark closely. I do see my zebra danios pairing and doing a little dance over the gravel.

Are those swordtail yours duane ? Lovely fish

Even on a sunset late, the gravid spot will be quite drk. and easily noticed.
It is the group of developing embryos.
Below another shot, not quite s obvious, but still visible, maybe not quite as far along.

and another shot of a live bearer, can't remember the species, but even at this bad angle, you can see the gravid area. The cichlid is Gymnogeophagus sp Paso Pache

I have a sunburst platy just like that! I think mine maybe pregnant, too. Did yours give birth yet and if she did, than how do you care for fry?

Welcome aboard!

If you don't want the fry to be eaten they sale special breeder container's for livebearing fish. The lfs should have fry food or you could crush up flake or pellet.
