Is it Safe to Run Poly-Fil in a Canister Filter? (Fluval 305 for Instance)

So do you guys use it as the first or last media? I'm thinking two trays of poly first then my bio rings for the last one.

depends which way your filter flows. Most flow bottom to top so you would put the course sponges at the bottom. bio in the middle and the polyfill/polisher on the top.

If this is the case and the poly is your last later then how do you keep from getting strands of it caught in your impeller? I was reading that this is the main issue with using cheap poly so some said to put another sponge after it to catch it. I dunno, just seems there are more questions than answers the more I try to research this.

I run mine, course->fine(poly-fill)->pot scrubbies x2 baskets. I don't ever have issues with the strands getting caught in my inpellor and it keeps the scrubbies from getting clogged as quickly.
