Is it safe to use a sleeping Eheim 2213 filter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I was wondering, is it a good idea to have additional canister filter in the same aquarium besides 2213. Or is it an Over kill??
I read a couple of posts where a couple of members were using two filters at the same time?
Is Eheim 2215 a good option for my next or standby filter.
Dimentions are 4 feet in length (48 inches) x 12 inches in width, and a little bit over 18 inches in height.. or maybe we can count 24 inches.

First off, you need a much, much larger aquarium with the fish you have. Your Oscars require a minimum of 55 gallons each. The balas require a much larger tank as well as the black knife fish. For the fish that you are keeping you need at least a 180 gallon, six foot tank.

I don't think you could put enough filtration on that tank to keep those fish happy and healthy. I'm not trying to be negative, I'm just trying to let you know. If I were you I would call the fish store you got the fish from and see if they will take them back.

Also, I see an african in there that has different water requirements than your other fish.

Please guide me so as to which media shud i buy for the replacement.

Thanks for the reply, its my mistake.. the dimention of the tank is 4 ft in length, 18 inches high, and 12 inches in width.
Thats really strange, cos my filter gets real dirty.. and have to clean it atleast once in 10 days. We take care while feeding... and there are no more than 20 chiclids.

Sorry, the dimentions are 4 ft in length, 18 inches high, and 12 inches in width. I cud not re-edit the post. How do i cycle the filter mate.
I would go with the OEM package that they come with(should not be difficult at all to find ill see if I can PM you a link when I find it) and there is usually some room for extra substrate pro especially if you skip the carbon pad which I would do. Go with the factory setup basically.
