I always keep my cat away from my tanks and pond, just worried she could get sick and puke or end up with the runs from the water,but the main reason I keep her away is she once bit a hole in hose from my fluval during the night and woke up the next day with a living room full of water!
Is it safe?

I'd be more worried about the cat having flea meds or something that can get into the water and poison the fish
I've on occasion swallowed some tank water siphoning. It hasn't killed me so I would say it Cat safe!

Same. I'm not dead or sick so I think its ok.

I would think they would be fine drinking it, but then again my cats would go fishing if I didn't have lids on my tanks, and if I catch them on the top they get a good smack, already had to fish one of them out of my 56 gallon silly cat jumped up on it while I was doing a water change and the lid was off, turned around and heard a splosh and a huge ruckus and there was my 15 pound black soaking wet cat doing the mad scramble trying to get out of the tank, funny as heck!
