Somewhere
I have been cycling my tank for about a week and my temp. is good, my salinity is good, my ammonia is 0, my ph is good, my nitrate is good, and my damsels havent died except one that crawled into the power head. So do you think that I will be able to put fish in now?, also what fish can be kept with a coral cat shark?

gunny,

have you checked your nitrite levels?

a week sounds a little quick to cycle

tangs would be fine with the shark, no triggers or large angels

i suggest adding the shark first, and getting him eating real good before adding anything else

just remember the shark will produce large amounts of waste and you will have to stock this tank very lightly, maybe 1 or 2 other fish

yeah a week is far too short. isn't that when the ammonia starts to turn into nitrite?

I think that using Damsles are crule and not needed. You can get the same affect by buying a peice of frozen shrimp and putting it in the tank until the ammo. spikes then take it out. It generally take awhile for a SW tamk to cycle it took mine almost a month with 150lbs of live rock and 80 lbs of live sand.

There is no way he can keep a shark in there anyway. Tank is way to small.

If you read my previous threads I will most likely be building a new tank for him So when he out grows it i can put him in there, but if I dont build a new tank im going to sell him to my lfs.

First off, a 72 gallon is way to small even for a Coral Cat Shark. You will need atleast 220gallons to keep the shark for life. Sharks are not your normal saltwater fish, they should only be added to well sustained tanks which are matured. I wouldnt add a shark until the tank as cycled for atleast 2 months.

Brenden, read above post. He just said he will either have a large tank for it when the time comes or has made plans for it.
