MDF just needs to be dry, other then that its as strong as like regular wood
If your worried about its strength buy a long 2x4 and cut four lengths and glue or nail them vertically in each corner of the inside of the tanks stand.
Id trade your 55 gallon tank for that 75g with the nice black stand one in a second.
