is it this behavior normal for a dat?

dats are suposed to be constantly black and always wedged behid something so that you cant see them.. or if they are out they should be up in the back corner of the tank pointing face down......

or well.. thats how my indo was... i dont think he liked my low alkalinity....

i traded him for a thinbar who so far is enjoying the tank much more.. howerver hes far from being my buddy...
 
they are called oddballs for a reason. nobody can predict how they will turn out and the personality will be like. its a random fish. one point it will be all happy next thing you know its stuck between the filter all black or on its side.
